If a picture is worth a 1,000 words, a moving picture is worth 10,000. Many organizations are embracing social media and video in their marketing efforts. Youtube, Video, Metacafe, and hundreds of other video sharing websites provide businesses with a large variety of ways to get their video content on the web and within the line of sight of millions of people. Not all content survives and thrives though- it has to be compelling.
Graphic facilitation (also known as visual thinking, graphic recording, group graphics, story mapping, etc.) is the skillful use of visual representation to explain complex content.
Using graphics to organize information allows for businesses to better understand material and to also share with others a compelling and shared narrative about the products and services.
Graphic Facilitation translates complex concepts and plans into compelling, colorful, visual metaphors, models, and graphics that lead to information retention and improved actions. Pictures and words, which are drawn as people are speaking, capture the “story” as it emerges. Participants can see the progression of the story take shape. That story may be the strategy of an organization, the main theme of an author’s book, the main concepts of a group’s dialogue, or perhaps the roadmap to a new vision.
